Marine dies in accident off California

(Los Angeles) A ​​US Navy died in an amphibious military vehicle crash off the coast of California, two others are injured and eight are missing, the military said Friday.

Eight others were found – including the deceased Marine and the two wounded – for a total of 16 people on board the vehicle at the time of the accident, which occurred during a routine exercise.

The vehicle reported that it was taking water on Thursday at around 16 h 45 local time (17 h 45, Montreal time), in the surrounding San Clemente Island, off the city of San Diego, Southern California.

An investigation is underway to determine the cause of the accident.

“We are deeply saddened by this tragic accident,” said Colonel Christopher Bronzi, quoted in a press release.

The name of the deceased Marine will not be made public until 24 hours, time to notify his relatives.
